CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

KENYA:

West of the Rift, Kericho generally sunny, dry and dusty with minimal precipitation recorded 0.7mm while Bomet reported scattered showers with Kisii/Nyamira receiving 10mm rainfall. Temperatures averaged maximum of 28C and minimum of 12C. Nandi reported minimal rainfall with temperatures averaging highs of 30.6C and lows of 10.9C. All areas in the East of the Rift, Kiambu and Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga reported only a few scattered showers with Embu/Meru drier.  Temperatures averaged maximum 25C and minimum 15C.

TANZANIA:

 

East Usambara:

Conditions continued dry with temperatures averaging maximum of 26C and minimum of 25C.

Crop: lower. 

 

Southern Highlands - Mufindi, Njombe & Mbeya:

Precipitation reduced to 85mm with temperatures averaging maximum of 23C and minimum of 13C.

Crop: higher.

 

WESTERN UGANDA:

Drier weather conditions prevailed in the tea growing areas of Fort Portal, Hoima and Kibale with some precipitation in Bushenyi recorded at 19mm. Temperatures averaged maximum 31C and minimum 18C.

Crop: show a slight drop.

MALAWI:

Partly cloudy, warm to hot during the day with more widespread rains in the planting districts.

Crop: declined.

SRI LANKA:

Western and Nuwara Eliya regions bright weather beginning of the week with several spells of scattered showers, during evening hours, towards the latter part of the week. Uva and Udapussellawa regions experienced bright mornings with a few evening showers. In the Low Growns both Sabaragamuwa and Ruhuna regions reported continuous rainfall during the afternoons.

Crop:  maintained in Western, Nuwara Eliya, Uva and Udapussellawa regions while Ruhuna and Sabaragamuwa regions showed an increase.
