CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

KENYA:

West of the Rift, Kericho generally cloudy cold mornings with afternoon showers; 61.5mm rainfall recorded while Bomet experienced a few scattered showers only with 17mm recorded in Nyamira/Kisii. Average temperatures of 23C maximum and 9C minimum was reported. Nandi reported only a few scattered showers with temperatures averaging highs of 27C and lows of 8C. In East of the Rift, less precipitation of 9mm and 6mm was received in Areas around the Aberdare and Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga respectively with Kiambu experiencing only a few scattered showers while Embu/Meru recorded drier weather conditions.  Temperatures averaged maximum 21C and minimum 10C.

Crop:  low.

                                        

TANZANIA:

East Usambara:

Drier weather experienced with temperatures averaging maximum of 24C and minimum of 14C.

Crop: show improvement.

 

Southern Highlands - Mufindi, Njombe & Mbeya:

Weather conditions continue dry with temperatures averaging maximum 22C and minimum 11C.

Crop: low.

 

WESTERN UGANDA:

Reduced precipitation recorded at 44mm, 29mm, 26mm and 19mm in the tea growing areas of Kibale, Fort Portal, Bushenyi and Hoima respectively. Temperatures averaged maximum 27C and minimum 16C.

Crop: generally dropped.

MALAWI:

Reported mainly windy mornings and hot during the day.

Crop: shows further improvement.

 

SRI LANKA:

Western and Nuwara Eliya regions reported mostly bright weather with occasional evening showers experienced mid-week while Udapussellawa and Uva regions reported bright mornings and dull evenings with scattered showers however, a slight enhancement of windy conditions is expected over the island.  In the Low Growns, both Ruhuna and Sabaragamuwa regions experienced bright weather.

Crop:  maintained in Nuwara Eliya while all other planting regions showed a decline.
