CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

KENYA

In West of the Rift, Kericho sunny conditions in the morning and partly cloudy afternoons were experienced with 28.6mm rainfall recorded while Bomet received 18mm with 21mm reported in Nyamira/Kisii Temperatures averaged 22C maximum and 10C minimum. Nandi received less precipitation recorded at 8mm(weekly total 116.1mm) with temperatures averaging highs of 26C and lows of 9C. In East of the Rift, drier weather conditions prevailed in Embu/Meru with other areas reporting some rainfall recorded at 12mm, 10mm and 6mm in Kiambu, Areas around the Aberdare range of mountains and Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga respectively. Temperatures averaged 25C maximum and 15C minimum.

Crop: expected to drop due to drier conditions.

 

EAST USAMBARA

                    

Overcast weather conditions reported with much reduced precipitation of 12.40mm; temperatures averaged maximum 32C and minimum 17C.

Crop:  maintained.

 

WESTERN UGANDA

Conditions continue dry in areas of Fort Portal, Kibale, Hoima and Bushenyi.  Temperatures averaged maximum 30C and minimum 17C.

Crop:  declining.

MALAWI

Warm to hot during the day with increased rainfall particularly in Mulanje.

Crop: improving in both Thyolo and Mulanje.

 

SRI LANKA

Western, Udapussellawa and Uva regions reported bright weather throughout the week while Nuwara Eliya regions experienced bright weather with occasional scattered showers. In the Low Growns, Ruhuna and Sabaragamuwa reported mixed weather conditions with scattered showers reported mid week.

Crop: maintained in Western, Nuwara Eliya and Udapussellawa regions but declined in Uva and the in Low Growns Ruhuna district although showed an increase in Sabaragamuwa district.
