CROP AND WEATHER REPORT

 

 

KENYA:

West of the Rift, Kericho experienced warm sunny days with some cloudy afternoons and received 4.6mm rainfall on only two days with some estate reporting hail damage while Bomet reported 48mm but waned to 20mm in Nyamira/Kisii. Temperatures averaged at maximum of 24C and minimum of 10C. Rainfall continued to wane in Nandi to 13mm(weekly total 181.9mm) with temperatures averaging highs of 27C and lows of 8.9C. In East of the Rift, increased precipitation recording 78mm and 51mm in Embu/Meru and Kiambu respectively but waned to 43mm and 28mm in Areas around the Aberdare and Muranga/Nyeri/Kirinyaga respectively.  Temperatures averaged maximum 25C and minimum 15C.

Crop:  maintained.                                                     

 

TANZANIA:

East Usambara:

Conditions remain overcast but with more precipitation recording 22.70mm; temperatures averaged maximum of 26C and minimum of 19C.

Crop: low.

 

Southern Highlands - Mufindi, Njombe & Mbeya:

Similar weather conditions experienced recording 31mm of precipitation with temperatures averaging maximum of 22C and minimum of 13C.

Crop: higher.

 

WESTERN UGANDA:

Bushenyi reported more rainfall recording 90mm but waned to 53mm, 27mm and 13mm in Fort Portal, Hoima and Kibale respectively.  Temperatures averaged maximum 28C and minimum 17C.

Crop: improved.

MALAWI:

Hot to very hot during the day but cold and windy at night with some rain showers of 5 to 58mm in Mulanje.

Crop: low.

 

SRI LANKA:

Western, Uva and Udapussellawa regions reported bright mornings with evening showers beginning of the week, however bright weather experienced towards the latter part of the week. Nuwara Eliya regions reported bright mornings and gloomy evenings. In the Low Growns both Ruhuna and Sabaragamuwa regions experienced bright weather.

Crop:  maintained in Western, Nuwara Eliya, Uva and Udapussellawa regions and showed an increase in the Low Growns.
