There was good but irregular demand for the 115,663 packages (7.42 million kilos) on offer with some lines remaining unsold (16.88%)

 

Brighter BP1s met better enquiry and gained USC2 to 20 but a few lines eased by a similar level while mediums were well absorbed at firm to USC16 dearer but some lines lost upto USC4 with make; lower medium BP1s met strong interest gaining USC2 to 76. Plainer sorts held firm to USC40 above last prices. Brighter PF1s met good interest at USC2 to 8 dearer while mediums saw a price appreciation of between USC2 to 16; lower mediums were irregular varying between USC3 to 30 dearer to easier by upto USC16. Plainer types were upto USC10 to 46 dearer. Brighter PDUSTs were irregular ranging between USC2 to 10 dearer for a few improved invoices to easier by USC2 to 10 with mediums well absorbed varying between firm to USC4 dearer to easier by USC4 to 5 while lower mediums held firm to USC15 above last levels but a few lines remained unsold. Plainer descriptions varied between USC6 to 10 easier to dearer by upto USC15. Brighter DUST1s met an irregular enquiry and ranged between USC2 to 12 dearer to easier by a similar margin while mediums eased by upto USC4 but a few clean lines gained by a similar margin; lower mediums were irregular and varied between USC6 easier to dearer by upto USC26. Plainer DUST1s were discounted by USC3 to 20.

 

In the secondary catalogues BPs were irregularly firm to dearer while PFs gained. Clean well sorted Fannings were a strong feature while Dusts were dearer. Other Fannings appreciated while similar Dusts gained substantially. BMFs were well absorbed.

 

Pakistan Packers, Sudan, Yemen and other Middle Eastern countries showed more support with maintained activity from Afghanistan while Bazaar re-entered the market with the Egyptian Government Sector operating. There was less interest from Egyptian Packers, Russia and Kazakhstan(CIS) with the UK selective. Somalia was quite active.
