Improved general demand for the 112,080 packages (7.03 million kilos) on offer with fewer lines remaining unsold.

 

Brighter BP1s met strong enquiry gaining USC3 to 16 but a few lines eased by upto USC6 with make while mediums saw better absorption at firm to USC22 dearer but poorer types lost upto USC12; lower mediums were well absorbed at USC4 to 10 above last levels. Plainer categories were irregular ranging between USC12 easier to dearer by USC5 to 8 for improved well made invoices. Brighter PF1s were irregular ranging between USC5 to 14 dearer for improved coloury types to easier by USC10 to 17 while mediums were well competed for at firm to USC10 dearer; lower mediums were USC4 to 14 dearer. Plainer sorts were barely steady to USC10 easier. Brighter PDUSTs were a strong feature appreciating by USC7 to 14 while mediums met good competition gaining USC2 to 10; lower mediums opened USC3 dearer but subsequently gained upto USC16. Plainer types were about firm to USC24 dearer. Brighter DUST1s were irregular and ranged between USC2 to 10 dearer to easier by USC3 to 6 while mediums gained USC2 to 10; lower mediums saw good competition appreciating by USC10 to 14. Plainer teas were irregular varying between USC12 to 20 dearer to easier by upto USC10.

 

In the secondary catalogues BPs were irregularly easier while the PFs were firm to dearer. Clean well sorted coloury Fannings and Dusts gained. Other Fannings were irregularly easier while Dusts lost value. BMFs gained.

 

Pakistan and Egyptian Packers were dominant while Sudan lent strong support with improved activity from Yemen, other Middle Eastern countries, UK, Russia and Afghanistan. Bazaar re-entered the market. Somalia continued active at the lower end of the market.
