CROP & GROWING CONDITIONS

KENYA

 

West of the Rift, Kericho, Buret, Bomet, Gucha, Nyamira, Kisii and Sotik received rainfall of 44mm with cold mornings and evenings; temperatures of maximum 21°C and minimum 10°C recorded. Nandi reported widespread distribution of rainfall with incidences of hail damage in some estates; temperatures of maximum 21°C and minimum of 13°C recorded. East of the Rift recorded scattered showers with average temperatures of 19.57°C.  Crop levels maintained.

 

EAST USAMBARAS:

 

Drier conditions continue with lower temperatures of maximum 24°C and minimum 9°C reported. Crop continues to increase.

 

WESTERN UGANDA

 

Reported less precipitation in all tea growing areas with Bushenyi drier; warmer temperatures of maximum 29°C and minimum 13°C were recorded. Crop continues to show an increase.

MALAWI

 

Partly cloudy warm to hot days with Chiperoni rains reported on Monday night and some areas receiving rainfall of upto 18mm. Crop remains low.

 

SRI LANKA

 

The Western districts reported bright weather with occasional rainfall in the evenings while Nuwara Eliyas and Uvas experienced bright weather beginning of the week with some rainfall later part of the week. Udapussellawas reported bright conditions throughout the week with the Low Growns bright throughout the week with occasional gloomy conditions. Crop levels showed an increase in all high grown districts while maintained in the Low Growns.
