CROP & GROWING CONDITIONS

KENYA

 

West of the Rift – All tea growing areas of Kenya experienced drier sunny weather conditions with Kericho experiencing dusty days but cooler nights; temperatures of maximum 26ºC and minimum of 8ºC were recorded in West of Kericho, Buret, Bomet, Sotik, Nyamira, Gucha and Kisii while Nandi experienced maximum 28ºC and minimum 8ºC. In East of the Rift Kiambu, areas around the Aberdares range of mountains, Murang’a, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Embu and Meru temperatures averaged 25ºC.

Crop – continues to decline.

                               

EAST USAMBARAS

 

Hot and dry weather conditions prevailed with temperatures maximum of 32ºC and minimum 13ºC.

Crop – low.

 

WESTERN UGANDA

 

All tea growing districts continued to report dry weather conditions with temperatures at 31ºC maximum and 17ºC minimum.

Crop – dropping.

MALAWI

 

Partly cloudy, warm to hot during the day with some showers recorded. Crop declining.

 

SRI LANKA

 

Westerns, Nuwara Eliyas, Udapussellawas and Uvas reported bright weather with cold nights while the Low Growns experienced bright weather throughout the week.  Crop showed a decline in Westerns, Uvas and the Low Growns but was maintained in Nuwara Eliyas and Udapussellawas.
