Best Western BOPs where quality was improved gained Rs10 to 20 while others
were irregularly easier. In the below best category high priced teas were
irregular with others firm at Rs5 to 10 while plainer sorts were irregularly
easier. Nuwara Eliyas were
barely steady while Uva/Udapussellawas
were upto Rs10 lower. Best Western BOPFs were fully
firm and tended dearer where quality was maintained; others declined Rs10 to 20
and more following quality. Teas in the below best/plainer categories were firm
and Rs5 to 10 dearer at the commencement but declined by a similar margin and more
towards the close. Nuwara Eliyas
were down by Rs10 to 20 and more while Uva/Udapussellawas declined by a similar margin. The Low Growns were generally irregularly lower. CIS, Dubai,
Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq were active.

KOLKATA
There was good demand. CTC Assams maintaining
quality were around last levels while remainder tended irregularly easier
following quality. Orthodox selected
cleaner and well made varieties were readily absorbed
and sold following quality; remainder eased irregularly in line with quality
while stalky, end of season teas met with less enquiry and often withdrawn. In
the Dust sale Assams maintaining quality sold well
while remainder followed an irregular trend.
CHITTAGONG
Again strong demand .
Good and clean liquoring Brokens were fully firm to
slightly dearer while
plainer types were easier with poor end of season teas difficult of sale and
there were fair withdrawals. Best liquoring Fannings
were again strongly competed for and were fully firm to slightly dearer; good
liquoring types were mostly firm while plainer sorts were easier with poor end
of season teas mostly neglected. CTC Dusts were firm to slightly easier while a
few good liquoring varieties were fully firm to slightly dearer; others were an
easier market in line with quality; end
of season teas eased further with some withdrawals.
KOCHI
Good demand. Orthodox well
made Nilgiri and medium leafier brokens were firm to dearer while remainder
were irregular and lower with quality. CTC good liquoring sorts were
firm to dearer while remainder were irregular and lower following quality
particularly smaller brokens and Fannings.
In the Dust sale there was fair but selective demand with high priced teas
tending lower; remainder were irregular around last and at times lower with
quality except plain black leafy kinds which were firm on last.
GUWAHATI
Good demand. Select better liquoring teas
were around last while remainder were irregular
following quality.
SILIGURI
There was good
demand. Medium and plainer categories tended irregular around last while good
and best sorts remained unsold.
MALAWI
There
was selective demand at irregular rates for the 7,280 packages on offer. BP1s
were generally firm on last while well made PF1s were
firm to dearer but lesser sorts tended easier with light liquoring invoices
neglected. PFs were generally firm on last while PDs were irregular with
lighter liquoring sorts down by 6 to 15cents on last. D1s met good competition
at firm rates while PF1SCs were firm to dearer. Secondary teas were firm to
dearer by 5 to 8cents.
JAKARTA
Fair demand with all descriptions generally
irregularly easier.
